Hi Gentlemen;

I hope you can help as I'm having trouble getting the Pulsar2 unit to speak with the Sky6. This isn't a timeout issue, the Sky6 simple doesn't see the connected Pulsar2 unit at all. Communication with the unit is only currently possible with the Pulsar program, so I know its working. The problem is that when I configure the Sky6 to look at the same com-port (COM11) it errors, stating that the com-port isn't in use!

My Pulsar1 unit has no such difficulties and works perfectly with the LX200 commands. The com-port number in this case is lower (COM5) and I'm of course using a serial -> usb converter, connected via a usb hub. The hub doesn't have any effect on the problem. With or without the hub I get the same error with the Pulsar2 unit.

I hope someone can help.

Regards

Neil.

Hi Neil

I am using a Pulsar2 with The Sky 6. The Pulsar2 is ASCOM compliant but The Sky 6 does not dircetly support ASCOM. To Make this work you need to install ASCOM V5 on your system and download a plugin called TeleAPI from http://ascom-standards.org/Downloads/Plugins.htm.

Once you have ASCOM and the plugin installed you should select Telecope API in The Sky 6. You should then click on settings which should bring up the ASCOM chooser where you can select your telescope and COM port etc. You can try selecting the generic LX200 although you may get timeout problems as I did. Let me know if you do.

If you want to be adventurous and be able to connect your telescope to more than one program at the same time you could select 'POTH' (Plain Old Telescope Hub' and then select the telescope via POTH. Get back to me if you need more help with this.

Neil sounds 'English'; are you in the UK? I am, and I have a sneaky suspicion that we have the same supplier for our G42 and Pulsar2.

Regards

Peter

Thanks for that, I'm happier now since the Sky6 now working with the Teleapi ascom driver.

No luck with the weather so I did an artificial test indoors, but everything appears to be working correctly now.

Thanks for the help (An Englishman stranded in Holland) only joking, its nice here ;-)

Neil.
