The link for the driver is http://www.astronomy.hu/pulsar.htm you will found it at the bottom of the page or go through the new site using http://www.astronomy.hu and select downloads.

You will need Pulsar firmware 2.66aR or higher for the driver to work correctly.

The zip file contains two files but you only need to run the pulsar-setup5010.exe file if you already have 5.0.7 then this will be overwritten when running the 5.0.10 driver you do not need to remove the previous driver.

The ASCOM driver gives you the ability to Stop and Start tracking and Park and UnPark the mount you can also use PemPro to directly upload your PEC data to the Pulsar (not Pulsar2). The setup file contains a readme.txt file. This will give you more information about the driver.

Feedback would be great due to the problem where the driver is saying that ASCOM version 5 is required yet it is already loaded.

Kind Regards

Hi Paul,

Thanks.

By the way, is this ASCOM driver compatible with both, Pulsar and Pulsar2, and just PEC upload is not for Pulsar2?

Best regards,
David

Hi David

The driver was written for the Pulsar but I have successfully used it on the Pulsar2. The only known issue is with the Pulsar2 and the directly loading of PEC Data from PemPRO I'm still awaiting an answer from Andras about this.

Paul,

I have ASCOM Platform v5.5.1 on my computer and I got "The ASCOM Platform 5 is required for this driver" message when I try to instal this ASCOM driver.

Hi All

This is happening to a lot of people with the ASCOM software in general and it has something to do with the decimal place symbol. The change from ASCOM v5 to 5.5 has caused the problem. Systems that do not use the decimal place but instead use the comma or something else will keep getting this error. I'll try and come up with a change but for now you could change your system to use the '.' as the decimal symbol and try again. There are other reference to this error if you search for 'The ASCOM Platform 5 is required for this driver' using your chosen search engine.

Kind Regards

Dear all,

I recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 (x64) as the operating system. I installed the latest ASCOM 5.5.1 environment, and the ASCOM Pulsar driver 5.0.10.0. I encountered the same problem of not being able to install the driver, because ASCOM 5 is required. After searching the internet I found the following (quick and dirty) solution. I installed the driver and it is now communicating with the mount (i.e., PULSAR first version; FirmWare 2.69aR).

Here is the link
